I found this and though I know we dont use DandD references here I just thought it was interesting to see which evil your charchter most aligns with if they do play evil.

Lawful Evil
•Respects the authority figures in his family and obeys their mandates.

•Obeys all personal contracts.
•Respects the laws and authority figures of the community and nation.
•Considers public service in a leadership role an honor.
•Supports the legal procedures of the nation, without regard to their own discomfort.
•Seeks secure employment, believing hard work will pay off in the end.
•Will betray law-breaking family members for personal gain. Will not betray family if loyal.
•Will betray law-breaking friends if profitable. Will not betray loyal friends.
•Will seek to undermine his community and nation, if profitable and legal.

As you can see, Lawful Evil operates within the confines of the law, but will do whatever they can to secure their own profit, wealth and power, but they still have some ethics. A Lawful Evil character would still operate lawfully even if they think the laws are foolish, although they might try to supplant and change laws to favor them.
Neutral Evil
•Values his family, but will not heed their requests necessarily.
•Will provide for friends, and expects to be repaid in some manner.
•Does not seek positions of authority over others.
•Fits in with their society.
•Supports their nation when profitable.
•Supports the law when advantageous to do so.
•Is not concerned with politics, most likely.
•Will keep his word only if it is profitable.
•Will take risks if the benefits are great.
•Will betray family members for personal gain.
•Will betray friends if profitable.
•Will seek to undermine his community and nation, especially if profitable.
•Is not trusted by the community and may have enemies.
•Will kill others to get ahead.
•Uses any means necessary to evade justice.
•Will use wealth to destroy others.
Neutral Evil has no true loyalty and will sell out anyone or anything if they feel there's a profit, but again note that they don't openly fight the law and in fact use the law to their advantage (e.g. snitch on another evil group so the Watchers go after them, eliminating rivals, earning a good word with the Watch AND making it so that there will be less Watchers in the area while you are up to no good).
Chaotic Evil
•Is not concerned with the desires of family members.
•Values flexible relationships with romantic partners.
•Considers himself above the law.
•Finds most people to be narrow-minded and inflexible.
•Believes those who seek to rule others are, by nature, corrupt.
•Seeks to undermine the authority figures of his community or nation.
•Finds the legal procedures of his nation corrupt.
•Believes luck determines wealth.
•Will break any contract when he feels like it.
•Will betray family members for personal gain.
•Will betray friends if profitable.
•Will seek to undermine his community and nation, especially if profitable.
•Is not trusted by the community and may have enemies.
•Will kill others to get ahead.
•Uses any means necessary to evade justice.
•Will use wealth to destroy others.
Chaotic Evil has no morals whatsoever and follows nobody but their own guidelines or luck itself, and will sell out anyone on a whim or perceived reason, even if it harms them later on (e.g. killing a subordinate, then later on wishing you had that subordinate's help against your enemies).
